JoAnna Hubbard is a New Mexico transplant, having grown up and completed schooling all over Southern California. With a Bachelor’s in Psychology with a minor in Sociology and a Juris Doctorate with an emphasis in Criminal Law and Policy, she moved out to Las Cruces in 2021 to complete her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at NMSU. Since finishing school and becoming licensed, she has fallen in love with the landscape and people in this community, making southern New Mexico her current home. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, she hopes to assist the community here in healing trauma and working through systemic frustrations, finding ways to cope that are congruent with their lifestyle.

JoAnna is a big believer in looking at the systems that are in play in our lives and learning how to adapt in order to thrive. Having worked in multiple different types of therapeutic settings, such as a long-term in-patient psychiatric hospital, as a school counselor at a high school, and a mediator in Small Claims Court, she knows that each person experiences these systems in different ways. She has worked with people experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, significant trauma, legal difficulties, and exploration of their LGBTQIA2S+ identities and approaches each with an open mind and eagerness for collaboration.

JoAnna is a holistic therapist, drawing upon multiple modalities and options for therapeutic intervention to meet people where they are at, using modalities like EMDR, geek/gaming, and expressive arts. She is a huge reader and loves to incorporate books into her therapeutic work as well. She looks forward to meeting with you and helping you get on the path to your most congruent self!
