In this interactive webinar you will be a fun and enlightening introduction to engaging with and
treating clients with Selective Mutism. Topics will include ways to conceptualize selective
mutism, building rapport when speech might not be present, and building confidence and
overcoming the anxiety of speech! This training is designed for therapists, psychologists, social
workers, and others who work with individuals diagnosed with SM.
Jared Andes is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a graduate of the University of Utah. Throughout his career Jared has focused on children, teens, and families who experience a wide variety of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, autism spectrum, selective mutism, and more. Jared currently work for Kids On The Move, a non-profit based in Orem, Utah, where he is currently a therapist and the clinical director of the Child and Family Mental Health program where he sees a variety of children, including a specialty in Selective Mutism. For the last three years, he has also participated in Resilience Camp, an intensive group behavioral treatment program for children diagnosed with Selective Mutism, as a camp counselor.

This is an online training. You will receive an email with the Zoom link and any handouts the day prior to the training.
This training will provide 3 CEUs (NM Counseling and Therapy Practice Board Provider Number CCE0209081)
Participants will be able to identify the Anxiety Cycle and explain how it impacts Selective Mutism.
Participants will be able to apply three play therapy approaches/interventions to foster relationship and growth within the therapeutic alliance.
Participants will list 2-4 play therapeutic exposures to decrease Selective Mutism symptoms.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
A New Hope Therapy Center’s Cancellation and Refund Policy will be as follows to assure consistency and is applicable to all trainings offered by A New Hope Therapy Center.
Registrations canceled on or before October 8, 2020 prior to the event is refundable but subject to a $25 administrative fee.
Registrations canceling October 9th or later will not receive a refund. The refund and cancellation policy will not be waived. Registration fees may be transferred to another individual for the same event.
In the event A New Hope Therapy Center must cancel the conference due to unforeseen circumstances, A New Hope Therapy Center will refund the cost of registration. However, A New Hope Therapy Center does not assume responsibility for any additional costs, charges, or expenses; to include, charges made for travel and lodging.
