This course is intended to provide students with a critical analysis of advanced theoretical approaches to play therapy with an emphasis on the dimensions of the process, the counselor’s understanding of children’s behavior and his/her perceptions of self, of the client, and of the therapeutic play relationship.

Participants will build upon previously established skills through hands-on directives and experiential learning in order to develop a more selective understanding of advanced play therapy theory and methods. Additionally, participants will be able to identify a theoretical lens from which to practice and gain further knowledge of theory, skills and methods in play therapy.
